Why does it exist?

SOAR wants to recognize the growth and success of RCOs/PRSCs, learn from them and share the “recovery capital or assets” (overall supports essential to recovery) created by these entities and peers. SOAR will make more people aware of RCOs/PRSCs and ensure that the peer recovery community is informing decisions that impact them.

Who is leading SOAR?

A planning and implementation committee (PIC) of peer representatives is providing leadership and direction. MOAR provides facilitation, staff and other resources to support the PIC. Kirsten Doherty is the SOAR project director, 978-888-1927, kirsten@moar-recovery.org.

What does SOAR hope to accomplish?

The PIC is focused on ensuring that all RCOs/PRSCs have a stronger voice. This means that SOAR will provide training and technical assistance to enhance their capacity and help facilitate the expansion of peer recovery services in Massachusetts.

Why should our organization join SOAR?

SOAR is establishing a collective voice for RCOs/PRSCs providing peer and other recovery support services in Massachusetts. In order for that voice to be influential, SOAR will work with them to help build their capacity and to access the resources and information that impact their peers/members. Specific SOAR benefits are or will include training, technical assistance, a resource library, and tools to increase their visibility and showcase their work. The SOAR Network also will make a difference by supporting statewide public education.

What does it mean to be signed up with SOAR?

There is no fee and no obligation. Signing up means that your organization can utilize the benefits above as they become available. Your organization can also acknowledge that it is part of a large network of RCOs/PRSCs across Massachusetts.
