This will explore the role of VRSS during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, understanding how VRSS have been rapidly adopted as a tool to support recovery as physical distancing requirements reduced face-to-face services in early 2020. Learning objectives include:

Understanding how VRSS can support the recovery process and who may be left behind.

Considering ethical issues around VRSS, how services need to be transparent and ethically delivered.

Understanding the importance of having VRSS developed, delivered and evaluated by the recovery community in order to remain an authentic element within our recovery support service toolbox.
Executive Director of Pennsylvania Recovery Organization Alliance
William Stauffer is the Executive Director of Pennsylvania Recovery Organization Alliance (PRO-A), the statewide recovery community organization of Pennsylvania, and comes with significant direct care and training experience. He testified to the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging on the opioid epidemic and older adults, and conducted a hearing with the PA House Human Services Committee on recovery opportunities for young people. Mr. Stauffer was the 2019 recipient of the Vernon Johnson Award Individual Recovery Advocate at America Honors Recovery.
