Session 1 Tuesday August 4th
Resilience and Compassion Fatigue
Principal at Dougherty Coaching and Consulting
For many of us, one of the gifts of our recovery is resilience, the ability to come back from the difficulties that life brings us. In this session, we'll explore the ways that this resilience can help us to avoid and manage the compassion fatigue that may result when providing Peer Based Recovery Support Services (P-BRSS), and navigate the difficulties of life, even in these challenging times.

Owen independently provides training, technical assistance, and leadership development coaching to organizations developing peer recovery support services (PRSS). Prior to 2019, Owen was the Deputy Executive Director of the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA). He oversaw the Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) Program, a project fostering the development of recovery community organizations across the state. He also managed programs that provided peer recovery support services in emergency departments, women’s services in hospitals, as well as a statewide warmline for individuals facing challenges with substance use. Since leaving GCSA, Owen has provided training and/or technical assistance to organizations providing PRSS in Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
